Do Good, Feel Good Stories

The Missing Ring
So I went looking… I saw a post on our neighborhood group that someone lost a ring, it was her late father’s band and she wore it around her neck. She thinks she lost it a block from where I live. I thought about my dad who has passed away. I thought about people who wear rings on chains around their necks, isn’t that an interesting thing. It’s a beautiful day and I had time so I put on some shoes and my mask and walked out and around to the possible spot. And there were so. Many. Leaves. I walked around slowly and kicked at them and stared to the ground. Sadly realizing this would be impossible. And then – an older man with really white hair pops out of a car with a metal detector and starts moving it over the leaves. And then a young man with long dark hair walks over and we all say… are you looking for the ring too? And we all nod. And we didn’t find it. But we showed up. For a stranger. And somehow it felt like a win.
